Our Mission

Communities are effervescent. They constantly grow, continuously change and inevitably, fragment. At Crescent Street Films, we've started by spotlighting our very own backyard in Astoria, Queens—Greek cafes and Bengali basketball courts— but aspire to capture a more wordly concept, one that we're certain will carry global resonance.

Take Astoria Park, for example. Sure, it's got some impressive jump shots and gulp—inducing free style rap, but in all honesty, it's about what happens off the court. Why do individuals feel the need to claim ownership to concepts, ideas and spaces that were created to be shared? We can't guarantee our films contain answers to such questions, but we do promise you an array of viewpoints.

We fuse rare combinations (like Arabic drum beats and kung-fu moves) in an attempt to portray an authentic world that's defined by the comfortable—and sometimes, not so comfortable—mingling of cultures, and we're most at home where traditions co-exist. Ultimately, our message is as universal as the spirited neighborhood we call home and the sliver of the moon we're named after—we just ask that you take a glimpse.
